Rockies’ Freeland throws seven strong innings in win over Giants
Kyle Freeland allowed only two runs over seven innings in a win over the Giants on Monday. Freeland walked just one and struck out three. He limited the hard contact outside of a homer by Gorkys Hernandez, and he kept the Giants off-balance throughout the evening. His ERA drops to 3.25 on the year, and his WHIP sits at 1.18 through 105 1/3 innings. We’ll see Freeland again on Sunday when he takes on the Mariners in Seattle. He should be owned in all standard mixed fantasy leagues at this point.
Mariners’ Paxton strikes out 11 in eight shutout innings vs. Royals
James Paxton was brilliant in Sunday’s victory over the Royals, racking up 11 strikeouts over eight shutout innings. The left-hander scattered just two hits and two walks in the magnificent outing. Paxton pounded the strike zone in this one throwing 79 of his 110 pitches for strikes. Now 8-2 on the season, Paxton will carry a 3.39 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 145/32 K/BB ratio over 111 2/3 innings. He’ll look to replicate this fine performance when he takes on the Rockies at home on Saturday.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies have won four in a row and four of five on the road.
Seattle
The Mariners are 19-7 in their last 26 games played on Saturday.
Prediction:
The Rockies are starting to get hot but this is a spot I see the Mariners rebounding. They’ve been incredibly profitable with Paxton on the hill, winning five of his last six starts overall and four of five at home. They’re also 21-6 in their last 27 home games and have won 17 of 23 following a loss.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -1.5 (+115)
