Nolasco (leg) allowed just three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in a complete game shutout against the Mariners on Saturday. Nolasco left his last start Monday after taking a comebacker off of his leg, but that obviously didn’t affect him in the least bit. He has won back-to-back starts for the first time since April 18-27, and he is working on 15 1/3 scoreless innings for his best stretch of the season.
Hamels dominated in Saturday’s win over the White Sox, limiting the Pale Hose to two hits and two runs over 6 2/3 standout innings. He struck out six and didn’t walk anyone. Hamels took a beating in his previous start Monday against Cleveland and it looked like he could be in for another rough day after yielding a two-run homer to Jose Abreu in the first inning. But that would be the extent of Chicago’s damage as Hamels retired the last 19 hitters he faced before handing it over to the bullpen in the seventh inning. He’ll take a 3-0 record into his next start Friday against the Angels.
Bet Tonight’s Angels vs. Rangers Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Angels have been a horrible play when Nolasco takes the hill. They’re 2-10 in his last 12 starts, are 1-6 in his last seven road outings, and are winless at 0-9 in his last nine starts coming off five days of rest. On the other side, the Rangers are 12-1 in Hamels’ last 13 home starts versus a team with a losing record, are 20-6 in Hamels’ last 26 home starts, and have won 38 of his last 52 outings overall.
