Orioles’ Cashner allows one run in six innings vs. Angels
Andrew Cashner allowed just one run in six innings but did not factor into the decision against the Angels on Saturday. He surrendered an RBI knock to Andrelton Simmons in the fourth inning for the only damage against him in the quality start. He yielded four hits total, walked two batters and struck out four. He left the game with a 2-1 lead but the Orioles’ bullpen imploded in the eighth inning and they lost the game despite the solid start from Cashner. His record holds at 2-8 with a 4.48 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 16 starts.
Twins recalling Slegers from Triple-A to start vs. Orioles
Twins recalled RHP Aaron Slegers from Triple-A Rochester. Slegers will get the start for the Twins on Thursday against the Orioles. It’s expected to be a spot start for the 25-year-old right-hander, and he’ll likely be sent back to Rochester after the game. He doesn’t offer much fantasy value as a hurler who doesn’t miss bats.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles have lost five of Cashner’s last six starts overall.
Minnesota
The Twins have lost six straight games.
Prediction:
The under is 13-3 in Cashner’s last 16 starts overall, is 4-0 in his last four road outings, and is 5-0 in his last five starts when he’s coming off four days of rest. On the other side, the under is 11-4-1 in the Twins’ last 16 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and is 4-1 in their last five games when facing a right-handed starter. In the last five meetings between these two teams, the under is also 4-1.
The Pick: Orioles/Twins under 10
