Garver provides go-ahead single

A go-ahead single by Mitch Garver in the top of the 12th inning sent Minnesota to a 4-3 victory Wednesday night at Oakland. The Twins trailed 3-0 through five innings before chipping away at the deficit and eventually winning in extra innings. Garver ended the contest 2-for-6 with two RBIs. Luis Arraez finished 3-for-5 with a run scored. Jorge Polanco went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Blake Parker earned the win in relief as he gave up one hit with three strikeouts and two walks over two scoreless innings. Taylor Rogers picked up the save as he allowed one hit with two strikeouts over one scoreless frame. Jose Berrios starts today for Minnesota as he enters with an 8-4 record, 2.89 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 102 strikeouts over 112 innings.

A's falter late

Oakland blew a three-run lead and lost 4-3 in 12 innings at home Wednesday night against Minnesota.Ramon Laureano helped pace the Oakland offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Matt Chapman ended the contest 1-for-5 with a double and a walk. Mark Canha went 1-for-5 with a walk and a run. Robbie Grossman was 2-for-4 plus a walk. Blake Treinen took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and two walks over one-third of an inning. Tanner Anderson draws the start today for the A's as he comes in with an 0-3 record, 7.15 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 15 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Twins are 6-1 in the last seven Berrios road starts. Minnesota is 11-3 in its last 14 games versus the AL West.

The Athletics are 4-1 in their last five games overall. Oakland is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.

The starting pitching matchup is enough to have me seriously leaning towards Minnesota. Berrios has been solid on the road and pretty consistent all season long. As for Anderson, he wasn't very good in the minor leagues and that has translated to not fooling many bats at the MLB level. Look for the Twins to barrel him up and ride Berrios to the victory.
