Tigers swept in doubleheader

Detroit lost both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader at Chicago by counts of 7-5 and 9-6 in 12 innings. In game two, Nicholas Castellanos paced the Tigers offense as he finished 4-for-6 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5 with a walk, three runs and an RBI. John Hicks ended the game 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Nick Ramirez took the loss in relief as he gave up three earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 1 2/3 innings. Matthew Boyd will start today for Detroit as he enters with a 5-6 record, 3.72 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 129 strikeouts over 101 2/3 innings.

Abreu hits walk-off homer

Jose Abreu sent Chicago to a doubleheader sweep as his three-run home run in the bottom of the 12th inning gave the hosts a 9-6 victory. The White Sox won the afternoon opener by a score of 7-5. Abreu ended the game 2-for-6 with the homer and three RBIs. Yoan Moncada and Ryan Cordell both finished 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Jose Ruiz picked up the win in relief as he struck out the side in a perfect inning. Reynaldo Lopez will start today for Chicago as he comes in with a 4-7 record, 6.12 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 83 strikeouts over 92 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Tigers are 28-60 in their last 88 road games. Detroit is 0-5 in the last five Boyd starts.

The White Sox are 4-0 in their last four Thursday games. Chicago is 11-5 in its last 16 home games.

Detroit hasn't been supporting Boyd well lately and he also hasn't been pitching quite as well as earlier in the season. Chicago has played well at home over the last month and has a lineup equipped to handle lefties. While Lopez is having a rough season, he does have a 14-strikeout game against the lowly Tigers to his credit. Taking the hosts today to sweep.
