Giants’ Suarez pitches six strong innings in victory over Diamondbacks
Andrew Suarez pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Diamondbacks on Friday. Suarez had definitely benefitted from an easy schedule of late — he had just given up five runs in three starts while facing the Marlins twice and the Padres — but he kept it going against a contender tonight, scattering seven hits and striking out five. There’s still not a whole lot of mixed-league upside here, but he’s worth using when the matchups are kind.
Rockies’ Anderson goes eight scoreless in win vs. Dodgers
Tyler Anderson blanked the Dodgers for eight innings and struck out eight in a victory Friday. Anderson has been brilliant in his last three road starts, allowing a total of three runs over 22 innings. The Coors Field outings haven’t gone quite as well, which is why he still has a 4.23 ERA for the year. While he’s had more luck at home in previous years, he’s still only a mixed-league option half the time, if that.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 1-4 in Suarez’s last five starts versus a team with a losing record.
Colorado
The Rockies are 2-6 in Anderson’s last eight starts.
Prediction:
Much like most teams in baseball, the Giants are extremely streaky. After sweeping the Diamondbacks in Arizona over the weekend, the Giants are on the verge of being swept by the Rockies in Colorado. Their bats have once again gone silent and their bullpen is scuffling. The Rockies have won five of their last six games overall and five of six against the rest of the National League West. The price is right on them tonight.
The Pick: Colorado Rockies -120
