St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Matt Wieters slugged a go-ahead two-run homer in the 11th inning to lift the Cardinals to a 5-3 victory over the Padres on Sunday. Wieters clutch two-out, two-strike tater off Padres reliever Brad Wieck to help the Cardinals emerge victorious and avoid what would’ve been an ugly three-game series sweep in San Diego. The 33-year-old veteran catcher has played sparingly as a backup to ironman Yadier Molina, but has managed to launch four homers in just 73 plate appearances. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.
Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin
J.P. Crawford went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in the Mariners’ loss to the Astros on Sunday. Crawford launched a majestic 399-foot solo homer — his third round-tripper of the season — to right-center field off Astros starter Gerrit Cole in the opening frame. He also drew a walk to put the tying run on-base in the eighth inning. The 24-year-old shortstop has blossomed into a legitimate mixed league asset, flashing an impressive blend of power and speed in his first season with Seattle. He’s hitting .338 (22-for-65) with nine extra-base hits (two home runs), 10 runs scored, 17 RBI and one stolen base in 16 games since coming off the 10-day injured list earlier this month.

They’re also 2-5 in Jack Flaherty’s last seven starts and are 3-8 in his last 11 road outings. The Mariners, meanwhile, are 4-1 in their last five home games and have won four of their last five home games when facing a team with a losing road record.
