White Sox end skid
The White Sox are coming off a 10-5 win at Texas on Sunday to end their three-game losing streak. Chicago is 29-54 overall and 13-27 on the road this season. Chicago is putting up 3.93 runs per game on offense this season while allowing 5.24 per contest.
James Shields gets the start for the White Sox this evening. He has started 17 games this year and has a 3-9 record with a 4.29 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Shields has pitched 107.0 innings this season and has 73 strikeouts with 41 walks.
Reds split with Brewers
After dropping the first two games of their series with Milwaukee, the Reds won the last two games this weekend to salvage a 4-game split. Cincy is now 36-48 overall and 19-25 at home. The Reds are putting up 4.61 runs per game this season while allowing 5.01 per contest.
Luis Castillo gets the start for the Reds this evening. He has started 17 games this season and has a 5-8 record with a 5.85 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. Castillo has pitched a total of 87.2 innings this year and has 85 strikeouts with 33 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox have lost four straight Monday games, but they are 5-2 in Shields’ last seven Monday starts.
Cincinnati
The Reds have won nine of their last 11 home games and eight of their last 10 following a win. Cincy has also won five straight against AL Central opponents.
Prediction:
I don’t feel good about the Reds being as favored as they are with Castillo on the mound. He’s been pretty rough, allowing at least three runs in six straight starts. Shields is actually coming off a 7-inning scoreless effort against the Twins and has had promising starts over the last few weeks. I think he can best Castillo and the Sox can get the upset victory tonight.
The Pick: Chicago White Sox +185
