Rodriguez fantastic in win

San Francisco rookie starting pitcher Dereck Rodriguez, the son of Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez, shut down the D-backs last night as he threw 6 1/3 shutout innings. Rodriguez allowed six hits while striking out five and walking two in the 7-0 win. Buster Posey was 3-for-5 with a run to help lead the offense. Andrew McCutchen finished 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Brandon Belt was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Brandon Crawford finished 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks, two runs and two RBIs. Pablo Sandoval went 1-for-5 with two RBIs. Joe Panik was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Gorkys Hernandez ended his night 2-for-4.

Miller hit hard again

Shelby Miller was shelled again in his second start back in the MLB from Tommy John Surgery as he surrendered six earned on nine hits with six strikeouts and one walk over five innings. David Peralta was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk to pace the offense, while Ketel Marte was also 2-for-3.

Derek Holland (5-7, 4.24 ERA) gets the nod for San Francisco today, while Arizona counters with Zack Godley (9-5, 4.58).

MLB Betting Trends

San Francisco

The under is 7-3 in Holland's last 10 starts on grass. The Giants are 4-9 in the last 13 meetings in Arizona.

The Diamondbacks are 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. The under is 19-7-2 in the last 28 Arizona games on a Sunday.

The Diamondbacks shouldn't have much difficulty hitting Holland, no matter what happened yesterday against Rodriguez. Arizona was playing pretty good baseball before this series and it shouldn't take long for it for find its form again. Godley has started to pitch better over the last month and I believe he'll turn in a quality start today.
