Braves dominant in another win
Atlanta led 11-0 in the ninth inning Saturday night in St. Louis before the hosts scored four times in the bottom of the ninth. Ender Inciarte finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs. Ozzie Albies went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Freddie Freeman finished 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Nick Markakis was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs and five RBIs. Ronald Acuna Jr. was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three runs and two RBIs. Johan Camargo was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Max Fried was stellar on the hill, throwing 6 2/3 shutout innings with four hits allowed plus 11 strikeouts and three walks.
Cardinals rally falls seven runs short
St. Louis’ bats finally woke up in the bottom of the ninth inning last night, but it was far too late as the home team could only draw within 11-4 in the loss. Jose Martinez finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Yadier Molina was 1-for-1 with a walk. Harrison Bader finished 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Luke Weaver suffered the loss as he was shelled for eight earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and two walks over 4 2/3 innings.
Mike Foltynewicz (5-4, 2.14 ERA) will start today for the Braves, while St. Louis is going with John Gant (2-2, 3.48).
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 3-9 in Foltynewicz’ last 12 road starts. The over is 7-2-1 in the last 10 Atlanta games overall.
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 3-7 in their last 10 home games. The under is 15-7 in the last 22 St. Louis home games.
Prediction:
Atlanta is playing with swagger these days and received a big boost offensively when Acuna Jr. returned from injury. Foltynewicz has rounded into a fantastic pitcher this season and will be in a pitcher’s park today. With the Nationals playing good baseball lately, Atlanta knows it must continue to pile up wins. I say a road sweeps happens this afternoon.
