Rangers stay hot
Texas upped its win streak to six games with a 5-0 win at Tampa on Friday night. The Rangers are 46-36 on the season, 18-21 on the road and 43-38 with the under. Texas has Adrian Sampson taking the mound today. He is 6-4 on the season with a 4.14 ERA.
The Rangers jumped out quickly on Tampa, scoring three runs in the second inning. The pitching took over from there. Lance Lynn threw eight scoreless innings, recording 10 strikeouts while giving up three hits. He is now 10-4 on the season. At the plate, Rougned Odor was a home run shy of the cycle while Ronald Guzman drove in two runs.
Rays shutout in opener
Tampa Bay is coming off the 5-0 loss to the Rangers on Friday. The Rays have lost four of their last six games. Tampa is now 46-36 on the season, 20-19 at home and 43-33 with the under. The Rays have Brendan McKay getting the start today. He is making his 2019 debut.
The Rays were held to just three hits in the loss on Friday, with only Willy Adames getting an extra-base hit, a double. On the mound, Yonny Chirinos took the loss to fall to 7-4 on the season. He gave up four runs over six innings on four walks and five strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers have won eight of their last nine Game 2’s in a series and 10-4 in their last 14 games on astroturf.
Tampa
The Rays are just 3-8 in their last 11 games overall and 3-8 in their last 11 home games.
Prediction:
The Rangers are on a tear right now and have won four straight road games. Adrian Sampson has been a bit up and down, but he has gone seven innings in three of his last five starts, giving up only one run in those starts. He faces a Tampa lineup that has struggled for run consistency and has a beat up bullpen from an 18-inning game on Thursday. McKay is making his MLB debut, so it’s not likely he will be getting deep into the game. Texas should be able to take advantage of that.
MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers +150
