Red Sox homer four times
After scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning, Boston scored another four in the second and were well on its way to a 9-1 home victory Tuesday night. Mookie Betts helped lead the way to the win by going 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs. J.D. Martinez finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Xander Bogaerts was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. Christian Vazquez went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run. Jackie Bradley Jr. highlighted the offensive effort from the ninth spot in the order as he went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs. David Price gave up one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over six innings to pick up the win.
Lamb blasted in defeat
Angels pitcher John Lamb had a very difficult assignment against one of the best offenses in baseball on the road. He ended up taking the loss, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks in only 1 2/3 innings. Chris Young accounted for the only LA run with a solo homer. Ian Kinsler went 2-for-4.
Andrew Heaney (4-5, 3.43 ERA will start today for the Angels, while Boston will turn to Rick Porcello (9-3, 3.44).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The over is 6-1-2 in the last nine LA road games. The over is 9-3-3 in the last 15 Angels games overall.
Boston
The Red Sox are 13-5 in their last 18 home games. Boston is 21-8 in its last 29 Wednesday games.
Prediction:
Porcello is having a fine season and has been in a good groove lately, but can be prone to a blowup. With Heaney showing good stuff, I’m going to roll the dice on the Angels finding enough offense to support him and recording the win as the underdog.
