From Rotoworld: Chavez allowed five runs over four innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Yankees. Chavez gave up seven hits, including an Aaron Judge three-run homer, and walked two in the start. The Angels actually came back to win the game by a decent margin, but the 33-year-old couldn’t stick around long enough to earn his sixth win. He’s been up and down, but mostly down, through 16 appearances, including 15 starts, this year, posting a 5.15 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 85 2/3 innings of work, but with the recent release of Doug Fister it at least seems like the Angels don’t have many better options to replace Chavez in the rotation. An interleague date with the “crosstown” Dodgers awaits Tuesday.
Maeda will start Tuesday against the Angels. The Dodgers will move all of their starters back a day. Maeda has spent the better part of a month see-sawing between the bullpen and the starting rotation. The right-hander sports a mediocre 4.87 ERA in his 11 starts this year.
Bet Tonight’s Angels vs. Dodgers Game
OUR PREDICTION: The over is 5-2 in the Angels’ last seven games coming off a win, are 4-1 in Chavez’s last five road starts, and is 19-6-1 in their last 26 interleague games versus a right-handed starter. On the other side, the over is 20-7-1 in Maeda’s last 28 starts overall, is 10-2 in his last 12 home outings, and is 14-2 in his last 16 starts when their opponent allows two runs or less in their previous game.
