Rangers on a win streak
Texas has a three-game win streak going right now following a 5-3 win at Detroit on Tuesday night. Texas is 43-36 on the season, 15-21 on the road and 40-38 with the under. The Rangers have Mike Minor taking the mound today. He is 7-4 on the season with a 2.52 ERA.
The Rangers had 12 hits on Tuesday to lead it to the win. The early run support helped Jesse Chavez, who allowed one unearned run over 6.1 innings to improve to 3-2 on the season. He had seven strikeouts with no walks. Ronald Guzman had two hits and two RBI to lead the team while Nomar Mazara had two hits with a RBI.
Tigers lose fifth straight
Detroit has lost five straight and nine of its last 10 after suffering the loss at home to the Rangers. The Tigers are 26-48 on the season, 11-25 at home and 37-31 with the under. Detroit has Matthew Boyd getting the start today. He is 5-5 on the season with a 3.61 ERA.
The Tigers had just six hits and committed three errors in the loss on Tuesday night. Jordan Zimmerman took the loss, falling to 0-5 on the season. He allowed three runs over five innings on nine hits. At the plate, Jacoby Jones had a triple while Ronny Rodriguez had a pinch-hit home run and drove in two runs.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 7-1 in their last eight Game 2’s of a series and 4-1 in their last five road games against a left-handed starter.
Detroit
The Tigers are 3-9 in their last 12 home games against a left-handed starter and 14-38 in their last 52 games on grass.
Prediction:
Minor has led the Rangers to a win in four straight starts and he has gotten eight innings deep in two of his last three outings. We could see more of the same today against this poor Detroit lineup. Boyd has given up 10 runs over his last 10 innings and the Tigers have lost seven of his last eight starts. Detroit just doesn’t have the hitting or the pitching to won consistently, especially against a good starter.
MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers +100
