Albies homer lifts Braves
Ozzie Albies hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday night to put Atlanta ahead and it held on from there in a 3-2 win at Chicago. Albies finished the contest 1-for-3 with the home run, two RBIs plus a walk. Ronald Acuna Jr. went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk. Brian McCann was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Max Fried picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on two hits with eight strikeouts and five walks over six innings. Luke Jackson notched the save as he struck out two over a perfect inning of work. Dallas Keuchel will start for the Braves as he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts and no walks over five innings in his 2019 debut as he took the loss in a 4-3 defeat at Washington on June 21.
Contreras drives in two in defeat
Chicago lost b ya score of 3-2 Tuesday at home versus Atlanta to drop to 43-36 overall and 28-15 at home. Willson Contreras paced the Cubs offensively as he finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Javier Baez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Addison Russell was 0-for-1 with two walks. Mike Montgomery suffered the loss as he allowed two earned runs on two hits over 2 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking none. MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 6-1 on the road in their last seven games versus a team with a winning record. Atlanta is 14-4 in its last 18 games.
Washington
The Cubs are 5-0 in their last five Wednesday games. Chicago is 0-5 in its last five games versus a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
Keuchel had some rust to shake off in his Atlanta debut and also wasn’t helped by a defensive miscue. Look for his second start to go smoother against a Cubs team that has struggled against lefties lately. Keuchel can be a frustrating matchup as his goal is for opposing hitters to hit everything into the ground. With the inconsistencies of Darvish on the other side, I’ll gladly jump on a hot Braves team here as an underdog.
