Choo registers three-hit night
Rangers leadoff hitter Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-5 with an RBI from the leadoff spot last night to help lead the way to a 7-4 win. Texas trailed 4-1 before taking control with a five-run sixth. Elvis Andrus finished the night 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Rougned Odor was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Jurickson Profar went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Robinson Chirinos went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Tony Barnette threw an inning of spotless relief with a strikeout to earn the win.
Margot socks 3-run homer
Although the lead did not stand, Padres leadoff hitter Manuel Margot played his part as his 3-run home run off Cole Hamels gave his squad a 3-0 advantage. It was his only hit in five at-bats. Hunter Renfro ended his night 3-for-4 with a double. Freddy Galvis was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Craig Stammen gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss.
Tyson Ross (5-5, 3.34 ERA) will start today for the Padres, while the Rangers will turn to Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-1, 4.58).
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 1-8 in their last nine games. The under is 7-2 in the last nine San Diego games on Tuesdays.
Texas
The Rangers are 8-1 in their last nine games overall. The over is 6-2-1 in the last nine Texas interleague games.
Prediction:
Ross is the better team here, but will also be facing the better offense. Although the Padres are healthier now with Wil Myers back and Eric Hosmer will be back in the lineup after a rest day, they struggle to put a lot of runs on the board. I think Bibens-Dirkx can come through with a good start. And Ross rarely has poor starts these days. Even in a hitter’s park, I think the over is a little high here. Roll with the under.
