Angels drop makeup game at Royals
Los Angeles suffered its third loss in a row Monday with a 2-0 shutout defeat at the Royals in a makeup game. The Angels were held to only three hits in the contest. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols were both 1-for-3 with a walk. Andrelton Simmons also finished 1-for-3. Tyler Skaggs was the tough-luck losing pitcher as he allowed one earned run on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.
Red Sox take two of three from M’s
Boston won 5-0 Sunday afternoon at home versus Seattle to win two out of three games in the series. Ace lefty Chris Sale tossed a gem as he threw seven shutout innings with four hits allowed, striking out 13 and walking one. Mitch Moreland helped pace the offense by going 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer. Rafael Devers was 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Xander Bogaerts finished 1-for-4 with a double and a run.
John Lamb (0-0, 5.40 ERA) gets the start today for the Angels, while the Red Sox counter with David Price (8-5, 3.81).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-7 in their last eight road games. The over is 6-1-1 in the last eight LA road games.
Boston
The under is 8-1 in the last nine Red Sox home games. Boston is 12-5 in its last 17 home games.
Prediction:
Price wasn’t great in his last start, but overall he has been more than sufficient as of late. Boston’s offense doesn’t strike out much and crushes more pitchers than not at home, so Lamb could be in for a rude awakening. Now back to full strength after a couple starters were out two games ago, the Red Sox should roll in this spot.
MLB DAILY PREDICTION: BOSTON RED SOX -178
