Latest on both pitchers via Rotoworld:
Pivetta struck out 10 batters and turned in a quality start but did not earn a decision against the Cardinals on Wednesday. He surrendered three runs in six innings and allowed just four base hits but two of them left the yard. He gave up a solo shot to Tommy Pham and a two-run bomb to Jedd Gyorko to account for all the damage on the scoreboard. The 24-year-old rookie has a 4.46 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings spread across eight starts. He had a 1.41 ERA in five starts at Triple-A earlier this year.
Greinke allowed four earned runs, nine hits and no walks over 7 1/3 innings in a loss Tuesday in Colorado.Greinke salvaged the stat line with seven strikeouts in the 99-pitch outing, but he now has three non-quality starts in a row. He’ll look to bounce back in his next scheduled start Sunday against the Phillies in a very favorable matchup.
