Dodgers have six-game win streak snapped
Los Angeles lost by a score of 8-5 Monday night at Arizona to drop to 54-26 overall and 20-17 on the road. The score was tied 4-4 until the Dodgers allowed four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the D-Backs to the win. Dylan Foro took the loss in relief as he surrendered four earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and one walk in two-thirds of an inning. Cody Bellinger helped lead the LA offense as he went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run scored and an RBI. Max Muncy finished 1-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs. Justin Turner was 1-for-4 and scored two runs. Ross Stripling gets the start tonight for Los Angeles as he enters with a 3-2 record, 3.08 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 48 strikeouts over 49 2/3 innings.
Four-run eighth lifts D-Backs
Arizona scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday night to break a tie and lift the hosts to an 8-5 victory over the Dodgers. Arizona starting pitcher Zack Greinke helped his own cause as he went 1-for-2 with a solo home run at the plate. Christian Walker was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs and three RBIs. Ketel Marte finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Yoan Lopez picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit and struck out two in a scoreless frame. Greg Holland earned his 11th save as he struck out the only batter he faced. Robbie Ray starts tonight for the D-Backs as he comes in with a 5-4 record, 3.87 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 115 strikeouts over 88 1/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 6-1 in their last seven games twos of a series. Los Angeles is 4-1 in the last five Stripling starts.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 2-6 in their last eight games overall. Arizona is 0-7 in its last seven Tuesday games.
Prediction:
Stripling will step into the rotation in place of Rich Hill, who is out until September with an injury. It is another case of the Dodgers having an embarrassment of riches as Stripling is a fully capable starting pitcher, although his endurance might not be up to par right now as he hasn’t started a game since April. Although LA can occasionally have problems against lefties, it has although found a lot of lefty mashers that it inserts into the lineup for games like this. Ray can be erratic and I think the Dodgers get to him here.
