Pirates’ Taillon labors through five innings vs. Brewers
Jameson Taillon labored through five innings Tuesday, yielding three runs on seven hits and a walk in the Pirates’ loss to the Brewers. Taillon managed to punch out seven batters, but he needed a whopping 100 pitches to cover his five frames. Jesus Aguilar was his main nemesis, as Taillon served up a two-run homer and RBI double to the big first baseman. The right-hander has been alternating good and bad starts lately, which is fitting for a guy who has battled inconsistency this season.
Mets’ Lugo worked over in Colorado by Rockies
Seth Lugo allowed six runs – three earned – and six hits with two walks and five strikeouts across three innings in a no-decision Wednesday at Colorado. Lugo was outstanding in his first start of the season June 10, beating the Yankees while working six scoreless frames. He is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two starts since, yielding eight earned runs over eight innings with 14 hits allowed, including three homers. His next scheduled outing is Monday night against Jameson Taillon and the Pirates to kick off a two-start week
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 13-6 in their last 19 games versus the Mets.
New York
The over is 6-1-1 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and is 26-10-2 in the last 38 meetings played in New York.
Prediction:
I know the ‘over’ has been a great bet in previous meetings between these two teams but I like the under tonight. THe under is 8-1-1 in Taillon’s last 10 road starts, is 8-2 in his last 10 outings versus a team with a losing record, and is 5-0 in his last five road starts versus a team with a losing record. On the other side, the under is 10-1 in the Mets’ last 11 home games versus a right-handed starter, is 7-2 in their last nine home games and has cashed in all four of Lugo’s last four home starts.
The Pick: Pirates/Mets under 7.5
