Yankees’ Loaisiga allows three runs in 3 2/3 innings vs. Mariners
Jonathan Loaisiga surrendered three runs in 3 2/3 innings during his start against the Mariners on Wednesday. He was unscored upon through three frames but then allowed three runs without making it through the fourth inning. He was very inefficient, tossing 84 pitches in the brief outing. He notched four strikeouts against two walks and six hits. He has a 3.12 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings after his first two major league starts. He put up big strikeout numbers in his minor league career and has the potential to be an impact fantasy pitcher down the road.
Phillies’ Velasquez takes tough no-decision vs. Cardinals
Vince Velasquez was dealt a tough no-decision Tuesday, getting charged with four runs over 6 1/3 innings in the Phillies’ loss to the Cardinals. Velasquez entered the seventh inning with a 4-2 lead and started the frame with a strikeout, but he was pulled after giving up a single and hitting a batter. Tommy Hunter then proceeded to let both inherited runners score and gave up two more on top of that. Velasquez did whiff eight batters on the night, but he gave up two home runs and issued three free passes. The righty has mostly been excellent over the last month, but he will have a tough two-start week next week versus the Yankees and Nationals.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees have dropped four of their last five games against the Phillies.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are just 1-4 in their last five home games versus the Yankees.
Prediction:
The Yankees just got swept by the Rays in Tampa and now they’re favored on the road against a Phillies team that has played well over their last 10 games? Granted, it was a late night for a Phillies team that was forced to deal with a rain delay in Washington on Sunday night. Still, the Yankees had to burn through their bullpen on Sunday when they went to extras versus the Rays. I love the value that comes with the Phillies here.
The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies +121
