Marlins’ Chen allows three runs in win over Orioles
Wei-Yin Chen yielded three runs in six innings and was credited with a win over the Orioles on Saturday. He allowed a two-run single to Manny Machado in the third inning and a solo homer to Jonathan Schoop in the sixth. Chen surrendered eight base hits and one walk while fanning just two batters in the quality start. He improves to 2-3 with a 5.91 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 10 starts.
Rockies’ Gray strikes out nine in no-decision vs. Rangers
Jon Gray allowed six runs – five earned – and six hits with a walk and nine strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Sunday in Texas. Gray did a good job logging plenty of strikeouts for his fantasy owners, but he did not factor into the decision in what turned out to be a slugfest. The Rockies offense bailed him out with a five-spot in the top of the seventh, only to surrender the lead in the bottom of the ninth. He’ll look for better results next time out on Friday against the Marlins in a favorable matchup.
