Brewers’ Suter holds Phillies to one run in win
Brent Suter fired seven innings of one-run ball in Friday’s 13-2 victory over the Phillies. Suter was excellent, allowing just six hits while walking one batter and fanning three. The only run scored via an RBI double from Cesar Hernandez in the sixth inning. He also drove in two runs at the plate. Suter owns an underwhelming 4.30 ERA on the year, but he’s won five out of his last six starts and hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs during that time.
Pirates’ Kuhl strikes out six in win over Reds in last start
Chad Kuhl picked up his fifth victory of the season on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits over six strong innings. Kuhl racked up six strikeouts in the contest while issuing three free passes. The only earned run that he allowed came on a sacrifice fly by Scooter Gennett in the third inning. Kuhl will carry a 3.76 ERA and 1.37 WHIP into Wednesday’s start against the Brewers.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers have dropped four of their last five games against a team with a losing record.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 3-7 in their last 10 games when playing the third game of a series.
Prediction:
The Pirates have won all six of Kuhl’s last six starts against the Brewers, are 5-1 in his last six home starts, and are 5-1 in his last six outings when their opponent allows two runs or less in its previous contest. On the other side, the BRewers are 1-4 in Suter’s last five starts against the rest of the National League Central. With the pitching matchup as tight as it is for this one, I like the dog.
The Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +120
