Marlins’ Urena excellent in win against Orioles
Jose Urena delivered a surprisingly outstanding performance in Friday’s victory over the Orioles, scattering three hits and a walk over eight shutout innings. Urena struck out four in the impressive outing. With the victory, he improves to 2-8 on the season to go along with a 4.18 ERA and terrific 1.15 WHIP. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort when he does battle against the Giants in San Francisco on Wednesday. Given his nice matchup on tap for next week, he’s worth a look as a streaming option in all mixed leagues.
Giants’ Holland allows three runs over five innings vs. Dodgers
Derek Holland allowed three runs over five innings while striking out seven in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday. One of the runs was unearned. Holland allowed five hits — two of them homers — and walked two. A pedestrian effort on a night where Holland was squaring off against the red-hot Ross Stripling. His ERA does drop to 4.48, and he’s struck out 64 in 72 1/3 innings. Next up for Holland is a start against the Marlins on Wednesday.
