Orioles extend losing streak
Baltimore has now lost seven straight games following a 16-2 loss to the Athletics on Tuesday night. The Orioles are 21-52 on the season, 12-24 on the road and 35-35 with the over/under total. Jimmy Yacabonis is pitching today. He is 1-1 on the season with a 5.40 ERA.
The game was actually somewhat competitive for a while before he Oakland put up 10 runs in the sixth inning. Gabriel Ynoa gave up six runs over 5.1 innings and then the bullpen fell apart, giving up 10 runs over 2.2 innings. Ynoa fell to 0-4 on the season. At the plate, Jonathan Villar had the lone RBI for the Orioles on a solo home run.
Athletics looking for sweep
Oakland hasn’t been able to get too far over the .500 mark, but the Athletics are looking to complete a sweep of Baltimore. The Athletics are 38-36 on the season, 21-17 at home and 38-36 with the under. Chris Bassitt is getting the start today. He is 3-3 on the season with a 3.68 ERA.
The Athletics had solid pitching and hitting on Tuesday. Brett Anderson got the win by pitching seven innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits. He is now 7-4 on the season. At the plate, Oakland had six home runs and 15 hits. Ramon Laureano had four hits with three runs and three RBI while Khris Davis had two hits, two runs and three RBI. Both had home runs in the game. Davis now has 16 on the season and Laureano has 11.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 19-54 in their last 73 Game 3’s of a series and 13-40 in their last 53 games on grass.
Oakland
The Athletics are just 3-7 in their last 10 game games, but 5-1 in their last six games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Yacabonis is making his first start of the season. The Orioles have lost his last six appearances, even though he has given up just one earned run over his last 4.1 innings. Bassitt has struggled, giving up at least three runs in five straight outings. Given Bassitt’s struggles and Oakland’s inability to get much over the .500 mark, I am taking my chances on the Orioles as a big underdog to avoid the sweep.
MLB Prediction: Baltimore Orioles +235
