Brewers’ Peralta officially ready to start vs. Bucs
The Brewers officially announced Sunday that Freddy Peralta will start Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Peralta has been excellent in one start and awful in the other in his first two opportunities in the majors. It’s possible Peralta will earn additional starts if he pitches well against the Pirates.
Pirates’ Taillon quiets Diamondbacks for fourth win
Jameson Taillon scattered six hits and two runs over seven innings Wednesday in the Pirates’ win over the Diamondbacks. Taillon delivered four strikeouts and only two walks over 108 pitches. The right-hander served up a two-run shot to David Peralta in the first inning, though it arguably should have been caught by left-fielder Austin Meadows. Nonetheless, Taillon quickly recovered, blanking the Snakes while allowing just four hits over his final six frames. Wednesday’s outing moved his ERA to 3.94, the lowest it’s been since April 19. The 26-year-old will look to even his record at 5-5 when he takes the mound Tuesday against the division-leading Brewers.
