Angels roll in opener

Los Angeles looked impressive in the series opener on Monday, earning a 10-5 road win. The Angels are 36-37 on the season, 17-19 on the road and 34-33 with the under. Tyler Skaggs is getting the start tonight. He is 5-6 on the season with a 5.00 ERA.

The Angels jumped on Toronto by scoring seven runs in the second inning. Mike Trout knocked out his 20th home run of the season in the win while Justin Upton returned from injury and went long. Trout finished the game with four hits and three RBI while Shohei Ohtani had two hits and three RBI. On the mound, Felix Pena got the win by pitching six innings and allowing four earned runs. He improved to 5-1 with the victory.

Blue Jays beat up again

Despite a 12-0 win over the Astros on Sunday, Toronto got rocked on Monday at home by the Angels. Toronto is 26-46 on the season, 12-23 at home and 35-34 with the under. Marcus Stroman is getting the start for the Blue Jays this evening. He is 4-8 on the season with a 3.18 ERA.

The Blue Jays didn’t have much of a chance on Monday as Edwin Jackson continued with his struggles. He allowed seven runs while recording just two outs to fall to 1-5 on the season. Cavan Biggio had two home runs at the plate in the loss, driving in a total of three runs. Randal Grichuk added two hits and two RBI for the Jays.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Angels have won nine of their last 12 games against AL East opponents and 7 of Skaggs’ last nine starts on four days rest.

The Blue Jays are 3-10 in their last 13 games following a loss and 1-5 in their last six against AL West opponents.

Skaggs hasn’t been the best on the mound, allowing at least three runs in six of his last seven starts. However, he still puts up the strong start from time-to-time. Stroman has the occasional bad outing, but has been pretty strong for the most part. He is pretty consistent across the board, and I think he will remain consistent today. I look for him to out-pitch Skaggs today and lead the Jays to a win.

MLB Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays +100
