Soler homer lifts Royals
A two-run home run by Jorge Soler in the top of the eighth inning put the visitors ahead Monday night as Kansas City won 6-4 at Seattle. Soler ended the game 1-for-3 with the home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Cheslor Cuthbert finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Martin Maldonado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Brian Flynn picked up the win in relief as he allowed one hit and one walk with four strikeouts over two scoreless innings. Ian Kennedy earned the save as he allowed one hit with two strikeouts over one inning. Homer Bailey gets the start tonight for KC as he comes in with a 5-6 record, 5.37 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 61 strikeouts over 67 innings.
Murphy homers in loss
Seattle faltered late last night in a 6-4 home loss against Kansas City to drop to 31-45 at home and 13-23 at home. Tom Murphy paced the M’s offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Kyle Seager finished 2-for-4, while Mac Williamson ended the game 1-for-3 with a walk. Anthony Bass took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks over one inning. Yusei Kikuchi starts tonight for Seattle as he enters with a 3-4 record, 4.78 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 55 strikeouts over 75 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are 22-48 in their last 70 games overall. Kansas City is 1-4 in the last five Bailey road starts. Seattle is 15-37 in its last 52 games overall.
Seattle
The Mariners are 0-4 in the last four starts by Kikuchi. Seattle is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings.
Prediction:
Seattle struggled to put away KC last night and Kikuchi seems to be pitching with very low confidence after his struggles the last month or so. Bailey isn’t anything to write home about, but he has the ability to at least put the Royals in position to win. Kansas City has figured out how to win on the road the last couple days and I think that happens again tonight.
