Tigers struggling again
Detroit is on a four-game losing streak after being swept at home by the Cleveland Indians this past weekend. The Tigers are 25-43 overall, 14-19 on the road and 35-28 with the under. Daniel Norris gets the start today for Detroit. He is 2-5 on the season with a 4.52 ERA.
The Tigers are among the worst in the league in hitting, putting up just 3.46 runs per game while hitting .229 as a team. On the mound, Detroit has a 4.88 team ERA with a 1.42 team WHIP. They are last in the league in strikeouts with just 550. Nicholas Castellanos is the leader of the team right now with 21 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 24 RBI. Miguel Cabrera is adding 11 doubles, four home runs and 29 RBI.
Pirates win a series
The Pirates had a long losing streak come to an end this weekend by winning two of three in Miami. Pittsburgh is 32-39 on the season, 13-18 at home and 43-27 with the over. Mitch Keller gets the start for the Pirates today. He is 0-1 on the season with a 15.43 ERA.
Pittsburgh is also struggling in both areas. They are putting up 4.44 runs per game despite hitting a solid .261 at the plate. On the mound, Pittsburgh has a 5.12 team ERA with a 1.45 team WHIP. Josh Bell is having a very strong year to lead the Pirates. He has 27 doubles, 19 home runs and 65 RBI. Colin Moran has added nine doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 2-8 in their last 10 after scoring two runs or less in their previous game and 5-17 in their last 22 games following a loss.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 4-10 in their last 14 home games and 2-8 in their last 10 against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
Keller has had two starts and they both have been awful. He has given up 12 earned runs over seven innings. Norris hasn’t been lights out, but he has been competitive in most starts. His problem has been run support and a shaky bullpen. While that could be an issue today, I think the Tigers will be able to get to Keller. He hasn’t shown anything to make me trust that he can get the job done.
MLB Prediction: Detroit Tigers +125
