Porcello throws seven strong

Rick Porcello threw seven shutout innings Monday night to lead Boston to a 2-0 victory at Minnesota. Porcello gave up four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk before turning it over to the bullpen. Ryan Brasier struck out one in a perfect inning of work to notch the save. J.D. Martinez finished 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI to help pace the offense. Xander Bogaerts was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mookie Betts went 1-for-4 with a run scored. David Price draws the start for Boston as he enters with a 4-2 record, 3.52 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 71 strikeouts over 61 1/3 innings.

Twins shut out on five hits

Minnesota lost by a 2-0 score Monday night at home against Boston to drop to 47-24 overall and 23-12 at home. C.J. Cron helped lead the offense as he ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double. Nelson Cruz was 1-for-4 with a double. Jorge Polanco and Jonathan Schoop were both 1-for-3. Jose Berrios was the tough-luck losing pitcher as he gave up one earned run on five hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks over eight innings. Michael Pineda will start tonight for the Twins as he comes in with a 4-3 record, 5.04 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 57 strikeouts over 69 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Red Sox are 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games. Boston is 4-1 in the last five Price starts on Tuesdays.

The Twins are 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games. Minnesota is 1-4 in the last five Pineda home starts.

Boston has the pitching advantage here and is playing great baseball right now. Minnesota has also been fantastic all season as its record shows, but the Red Sox seem to be on a mission to climb their way back up the AL East standings. I'm siding with Boston tonight.
