Mets rally, secure split at Arizona
New York scored four times in the ninth inning Sunday afternoon at the Diamondbacks to win 5-3 and take two of four in the series. Brandon Nimmo had a big day at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs. Asdrubal Cabrera was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk. Jeurys Familia earned the win in relief despite giving up a run in an inning of work, while Robert Gsellman picked up the save.
Davis implodes, Rockies lose runfest
Colorado closer Wade Davis allowed four earned runs on two hits and four walks while only recording one out in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday as he blew the save in a 13-12 loss at the Rangers. D.J. LeMahieu helped lead the Colorado offense by going 2-for-5 with a home run and a double. Charlie Blackmon was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Carlos Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs and an RBI. Trevor Story finished 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Gerardo Parra went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run and four RBIs. Ian Desmond was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
On the mound for the Mets today will be deGrom (4-2, 1.55 ERA), while Tyler Anderson (4-1, 4.48) gets the nod for the Rockies.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The under is 9-2-1 in the last 12 Mets games overall. The under is 6-2 in the last eight New York games following a win.
Colorado
The over is 10-1 in the last 11 Rockies games following a loss. The over is 14-2-2 in the last 18 Colorado games overall.
Prediction:
The Mets keep wasting deGrom’s fantastic starts as his last outing saw him take the loss despite giving up only one earned run over seven innings in a 2-0 loss at Atlanta. He’s been phenomenal all season and it will be interesting to see if Coors Field does anything to change that. I’m going to say he gets far more run support than usual with the New York bats facing Anderson and an overall Colorado pitching staff that has been lackluster of late. Take deGrom and the Mets in this spot.
