Brewers’ Chacin quiets Cubs over six scoreless innings in last start
Jhoulys Chacin limited the Cubs to four hits over six scoreless innings Wednesday in the Brewers’ 1-0 victory. Chacin fanned seven and walked three over 100 pitches. The only real jam he encountered came when Kyle Schwarber and Javier Baez started a two-out rally with back-to-back singles in the fourth inning. Chacin got out of it though, inducing a Chris Gimenez fly-out to end the inning. The right-hander sports an impressive 3.31 ERA this year, though his 2.0 K/BB ratio is obviously not what fantasy owners are looking for. The 30-year-old will take a 13-start unbeaten streak into his next outing Monday at Pittsburgh.
Pirates’ Williams done in by own defense in last start vs. D-Backs
Trevor Williams allowed eight runs – three earned – and six hits with two walks and two strikeouts over just three innings in a loss Tuesday in Arizona. Williams threw 51 of his 80 pitches, and wasn’t cruising along by any stretch. But he certainly was hurt by three errors, including his own throwing error. Williams hasn’t won in five outings since May 15, and he hasn’t picked up a road victory dating back to April 12. He’ll look to get back on track Monday against Milwaukee, kicking off a two-start week.
