Houston Astros Fantasy Spin
Yordan Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a homer on Saturday in the Astros’ 7-2 victory over the Blue Jays. Alvarez crushed a down-the-middle offering from Clayton Richard for his fourth homer of the season and eighth RBI in just five games. This gives the 21-year-old slugger back-to-back three-hit games, and he has been nothing but impressive since being called up to Houston on Sunday. Some regression is obviously possible — and likely — but this is a bonafide middle-of-the-order hitter. If he’s still available for some crazy reason, go get him.
Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Jesse Winker went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run and five total RBI in Sunday’s 11-3 win over the Rangers. Winker came through time and again on Sunday. His huge day on the RBI front began with a two-run double in the second inning. The outfielder followed that blow up with an even louder one two frames later, smacking a two-run home run in the fourth inning. He finished up his afternoon’s work with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Alas, no triple would be forthcoming to complete the near-cycle. For the campaign as a whole, Winker is slashing .244/.320/.454 with 11 home runs and 23 RBI across 63 games played. Prior to Sunday’s four-hit outburst, Winker had not come up with a multi-hit effort since back on May 27.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 8-2 in Wade Miley’s last 10 starts and are 61-27 in their last 88 road games.
Cincinnati
The Reds have won 13 of Castillo’s last 19 starts at home.
Prediction:
Castillo is one of the better young arms in baseball but I can’t pass on taking the Astros as an underdog. Granted, Houston is banged up and is coming off an lopsided loss to the Blue Jays at home on Sunday but again, the Astros are too good not to grab plus odds with tonight in Cincinnati. The reds are just 1-4 in their last five home games and have dropped 37 of their last 55 games following a win. The Astros, meanwhile, have won six of Miley’s last seven outings following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
Tuesday MLB Prediction: Houston Astros +110
