According to oddsmakers, the Athletics are the clear favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -215 to win. The Orioles are listed with a money line of +185 to win, while the over/under total for the contest has been set at 9 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 75 percent going on the Athletics at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Orioles still a mess

Baltimore is riding a five-game losing streak right now following being swept at home by the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles are 21-50 on the season, 12-22 on the road and 34-34 with the over/under total. Andrew Cashner is getting the start for Baltimore today. He is 6-2 on the season with a 4.73 ERA.

The Orioles rank last in nearly every major pitching category, as they have a 5.68 team ERA and a 1.48 team WHIP. They are also last in strikeouts with 546 and errors at 56. At the plate, it’s not much better, as Baltimore is averaging 4.00 runs per game while hitting .240 as a team. Trey Mancini is leading the team with 18 doubles, 16 home runs and 35 RBI while Dwight Smight Jr. has 11 doubles, 11 home runs and 41 RBI.

Athletics struggling for consistency

Oakland is riding along the .500 line, not getting too far ahead or behind it. They return to .500 following a 6-3 loss to Seattle on Sunday. The Athletics are 36-36 on the season, 19-17 at home and 37-35 with the under. Mike Fiers gets the start for Oakland tonight. He is 6-3 on the season with a 4.63 ERA.

The Athletics are in the middle of the road in terms of hitting and pitching. They have a 4.29 team ERA with a 1.30 team WHIP. At the plate, Oakland is averaging 4.90 runs per game while hitting .246. The Athletics are being led by Matt Chapman, who has 16 doubles, 16 home runs and 37 RBI while Jurickson Profar has 11 doubles, nine home runs and 39 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

The Orioles are just 33-97 in their last 130 road games and 10-41 in their last 51 series openers.

The Athletics are 5-1 in their last six games following a loss and 9-4 in their last 13 series openers.

Oakland is pretty good at bouncing back from losses and they are coming off a loss on Sunday. Today, Fiers takes the mound and Oakland knows what to expect with him. He gets in a good six innings and gives up a run or two. Cashner has been one of Baltimore’s better pitchers, but he still takes his lumps and maximizes out at about six innings. The road numbers are just really poor for the Orioles and I can’t ride with them against an Oakland team that is capable of doing good things. I will side with the Athletics to win big.

MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -1.5 (-115)
