Giants’ Stratton logs quality start vs. Marlins
Chris Stratton logged a quality start in Tuesday’s loss to the Marlins, surrendering three runs on four hits over seven strong innings. Stratton walked three and struck out three on the evening. All of the damage against him came in the third inning, where Starlin Castro delivered an RBI single and J.T. Riddle followed with a two-run double. Now 7-4 on the season, Stratton will bring a 4.56 ERA and 1.40 WHIP into a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Dodgers’ Ferguson so-so in home start vs. Rangers
Caleb Ferguson allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks with three strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Rangers. Ferguson managed to throw strikes for just 40 of his 65 pitches, but he was bailed out by his offense. He has an ugly 9.53 ERA and 2.12 WHIP while lasting just 5 2/3 innings in two starts so far. Luckily the offense is averaging 11.5 runs per game across his two outings.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 8-20 in their last 28 games versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 6-0 in their last six divisional games and are 8-0 in their lat eight games when playing the third game of a series.
Prediction:
The Giants are not playing well right now but I do see them getting one on the road today. They’re 5-1 in Stratton’s last six starts, are 5-1 in his last six outings against teams within the National League West, and are 4-0 in his last four starts when facing a team with a winning record. For one reason or another, the Giants play well when Stratton is on the hill. With the uncertainty that comes with Ferguson starting, I see value in the underdog.
The Pick: San Francisco Giants +135
