Marlins’ Richards pitches well in win over Giants
Trevor Richards pitched well in Tuesday’s victory over the Giants, allowing just one run on two hits over six strong frames. The right-hander also walked three and struck out two in the ballgame, earning his first victory of the season for his efforts. He walked the first two hitters to open the game, one of which would later come in to score on a ground ball, but that was the extent of the damage against him. The 25-year-old hurler now owns a 4.41 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 30/17 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings. He could be worth a look as a streaming option for Sunday’s start against the Orioles in Baltimore.
Orioles’ Bundy throws eight scoreless innings in no-decision
Dylan Bundy struck out seven batters over eight scoreless innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Red Sox. Bundy got zero run support and the O’s ultimately lost 2-0 in 12 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander did his part, yielding only three hits and two walks in his second straight scoreless outing. He had a rocky May, but Bundy now holds a cool 3.66 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 95/25 K/BB ratio in 83 2/3 total innings this season. He’ll try to keep it rolling next time out against the Marlins.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 5-1 in their last six games played in Baltimore and have now taken 14 of their last 17 versus the Orioles overall.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 1-4 in Bundy’s last five home starts and are 1-9 in his last 10 outings following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
Prediction:
Richards has looked serviceable this season, racking up 30 strikeouts through 34.2 innings. That bodes well against a free-swinging Orioles team that owns a 25% strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers. Meanwhile, Bundy is in good form but as we’ve seen before, he’s capable of blowing up at any point. Given Miami’s success against Baltimore, the Marlins are worth the risk.
The Pick: Miami Marlins +145
