Pirates back to losing
After ending a seven-game losing streak on Friday against the Marlins, Pittsburgh went back to losing on Saturday in a 4-3 defeat. The Pirates are 31-39 on the season, 18-21 on the road and 42-27 with the over. Pittsburgh has Chris Archer on the mound today. He is 3-6 on the season with a 5.73 ERA.
Pittsburgh put up their runs early and then failed to follow-up later in the game. Geoff Hartlieb took the loss, his first of the year, by giving up one run in two innings of relief work. At the plate, Josh Bell drove in another run, his 64th on the season. He finished the game with two hits, as did Corey Dickerson. Dickerson also drove in a run.
Marlins bounce back
Miami bounced back from the beating it took on Friday by edging out the Pirates on Saturday. The Marlins are now 25-43 on the season, 13-20 on the road and 34-31 with the under. Miami will have Sandy Alcantara on the mound today. He is 3-6 on the season with a 3.67 ERA.
Pablo Lopez got the start in the win on Saturday. He pitched seven innings and allowed three runs to improve to 5-5 on the year. Sergio Romo recorded his 12th save of the season with a scoreless ninth. Hanley Ramirez had three hits with a RBI to lead the team at the plate while Garrett Cooper also had three hits and scored two runs.
MLB Betting Trends
The Pirates are 1-8 in their last nine road games and 1-8 in their last nine road games against a right-handed starter.
The Marlins are 3-8 in Alcantara’s last 11 starts and 2-7 in their last nine home games.
The Pirates haven’t been able to get themselves on track and the same can be said for Archer. He has allowed at least four runs in six of his last seven starts. Alcantara has been much better, allowing just one earned run or less in four of his last five starts. The Marlins definitely don’t need to take a back seat to the Pirates. Pittsburgh just isn’t a very good team and I can’t trust them on the road.
MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins +105
