Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Astros are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -210 to win, while the Royals are listed with a money line of +175 to prevail. The over/under total has been set at 9 runs. The public betting for this game has 67 percent going on Houston on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Astros rolling along
With a 7-3 victory on Friday night, Houston has claimed nine straight victories. The Astros are now 46-25 overall and 27-11 on the road. Houston is putting up 5.13 runs per game this season while allowing just 3.10 per contest.
The Astros give the ball to Dallas Keuchel this afternoon. The former ace of the staff is definitely struggling most of any Houston starter. Keuchel is 3-8 through his first 14 starts and he has a 4.45 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP. Over 85.0 innings, he has 66 strikeouts with 22 walks.
Royals fall again
The Royals have lost four straight games following Friday’s loss as they continue to struggle at the plate. KC is now 22-47 overall and 10-24 at home. The Royals are scoring only 3.72 runs per game this year and giving up 5.50 per contest.
Danny Duffy is on the mound for the Royals this afternoon. He is 3-6 overall through 14 starts with a 5.28 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. Duffy has pitched a total of 76.2 innings this year and has 64 strikeouts with 37 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
The Astros have won 23 of their last 30 road games and four of Keuchel’s last five road starts. They also have won eight of their last 11 against AL Central opponents.
The Royals are 1-8 in their last nine against AL West opponents and 4-11 in Duffy’s last 15 starts overall.
Kansas City is in a funk and Houston is really hot, but I think tonight could be the upset in making. Keuchel has struggled most of the season and allowed at least four runs in his last three starts. He has given up 17 over his last three starts. Duffy has allowed just one run or less in three of his last four starts. Houston could struggle at the plate, while KC may see an uptick today. I think the odds are too great for Keuchel, who hasn’t been reliable.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals +175
