Tigers win third straight
The Tigers nearly let a 3-run lead get away from them on Friday, but managed a 4-3 win over the White Sox for their third consecutive win. Detroit is now 34-37 on the season and 11-20 on the road. Detroit is averaging 4.16 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.56 per contest.
Jordan Zimmerman is making his first start since May 5 today. He has pitched in seven games this year and has a 2-0 record with a 4.88 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. Zimmerman has logged 31.1 innings this season and has 32 strikeouts and nine walks.
White Sox edged
The White Sox have lost two straight following Friday’s 1-run loss to the Tigers. Chicago is 24-44 overall and 12-22 at home. The White Sox are putting up 3.82 runs per game this season while allowing 5.01 per contest.
Lucas Giolito gets the start for the White Sox on Saturday afternoon. He has started 13 games on the season and has a 4-7 record with a 7.09 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP. Giolito has pitched a total of 66.0 innings this year and has 34 strikeouts with 43 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers have won eight of their last 11 Saturday games and four of their last five Game 2’s in a series.
Chicago
The White Sox are 1-5 in Giolito’s last six home starts and 5-13 in their last 18 games against AL Central opponents.
Prediction:
Zimmerman is pretty questionable for the Tigers. We don’t really know what to expect of him coming back from injury. However, we do know what to expect of Giolito. He’s been a disaster and I don’t see him righting the ship this afternoon. Detroit is on a nice run right now and I think they will find a way to win due to getting multiple baserunners on from Giolito’s high walk total.
The Pick: Detroit Tigers -105
