Red Sox’ Wright goes 6 2/3 scoreless innings vs. Orioles
Steven Wright tossed 6 2/3 scoreless frames Monday in a no-decision against the Orioles. Boston won this one 2-0 in 12 innings. Wright was again effective, scattering four hits and three walks while striking out five Orioles hitters. The veteran knuckleballer boasts a 1.21 ERA in 29 2/3 innings (two starts, six relief appearances) this season and would appear to be locked into a rotation spot for the foreseeable future. He should be owned in all mixed fantasy leagues.
Mariners’ LeBlanc allows two runs over five on Monday
Wade LeBlanc allowed two runs over five innings of work with five strikeouts in a win over the Angels on Monday. A nice rebound for LeBlanc, who struggled in his start on Wednesday against the Astros. The crafty left-hander allowed solo homers by Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, but he allowed just two other hits over his five innings. The results have been strong, but LeBlanc will be tough to trust as a fantasy option when he takes on the Red Sox on Saturday.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 48-22 in their last 70 games overall despite losing last night.
Seattle
The Mariners are 11-1 in their last 12 home games versus a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Mariners have been incredible when LeBlanc is on the hill, especially when he pitches at home. They’re a perfect 11-0 in his last 11 home starts, are 13-3 in his last 16 outings overall, and are 5-0 in his last five starts when he’s coming off four days of rest. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are just 2-5 in Wright’s last seven starts coming off a quality start in his last appearance and have dropped all four of his last four starts when facing a team with a winning record.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -105
