Mariners can’t find consistency

Seattle took the series opener against Oakland on Friday, 9-2. The Mariners have alternated wins and losses over their last 10. The Mariners are 30-43 on the season, 17-21 on the road and 48-22 with the over. Wade LeBlanc will get the start for Seattle this evening. He is 3-2 on the season with a 5.31 ERA.

The Mariners piled up 10 hits and nine runs on Friday night, though the offense was a little late in getting started. Omar Narvaez led the team with three hits, three runs and two RBI while J.P. Crawford drove in three runs on two hits. Marco Gonzales pitched seven innings and allowed just one earned run on seven hits to get his seventh win of the year. The bullpen then pitched two hitless innings.

Athletics back to .500

With the loss to Seattle at home on Friday night, Oakland was once again moved to the .500 mark. The Athletics are 35-35 on the season, 18-16 at home and 36-34 with the under. Frankie Montas will be the starter tonight. He is 8-2 on the season with a 2.84 ERA.

Chris Bassitt was hit up for four runs over 5.2 innings on Friday, while his two relievers each gave up multiple runs as well. Matt Olson had the lone RBI for the Athletics in the loss while Matt Chapman and Jurickson Profar each had two hits. Oakland finished with just seven hits and stranded nine on base.

MLB Betting Trends

Seattle

The Mariners are just 3-7 in their last 10 against losing teams and 6-20 in their last 26 road games.

Oakland

The Athletics are 4-1 in their last five games following a loss, but 4-9 in their last 13 games on grass.

Prediction:

Both teams have been streaky, but the Athletics definitely fit that mold, as they have been hovering right around the .500 mark for weeks. The good news for them is that Montas has been pitching really well over the last six weeks and he has won his last four decisions. LeBlanc hasn’t been bad over the last few weeks, but his hitting and bullpen haven’t quite come through for him. With a strong starter going for Oakland, I would expect Seattle to continue its trend of losing following a win. The Athletics have a high money line, so consider going with the run line tonight.

MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -1.5 (-115)
