San Diego Padres vs. Atlanta Braves 6/15/18, Prediction & Odds

The San Diego Padres have won five of their last six series', but lost the opener of a four-game set last night at the Atlanta Braves. Will San Diego rebound tonight to even the series at a game apiece going into the weekend?

Public Betting Information

According to oddsmakers, the Braves are a -136 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Padres are a +126 underdog, while the over-under is set at 8.5 runs. As of Friday morning, 74 percent of public bets are pouring in on host Atlanta. Check out our MLB Public Betting Page for the latest info.

Pirela bright spot in loss

San Diego second baseman Jose Pirela finished last night 2-for-4 with a run out of the leadoff spot to try and spark his squad in a 4-2 loss at Atlanta. The defeat ended a two-game winning streak for the Padres. Pirela improved his batting average to .277 with the hits. Eric Hosmer was 1-for-4 with a double and drove in two. Franmil Reyes was 2-for-4 with a double, while A.J. Ellis was 2-for-3 with a double. Tyson Ross took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk over six innings.

Sanchez stellar once again

Atlanta starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez was dominant Thursday night as he threw seven shutout innings to improve to 3-0 on the season with a 1.93 ERA. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. Ender Inciarte paced the offense as he went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Ozzie Albies was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Clayton Richard (5-6, 4.40 ERA) will start today for the Padres, while the Braves are going with Brandon McCarthy (5-3, 5.03).

MLB Betting Trends

San Diego

The under is 8-2 in the last 10 Padres games on Fridays. San Diego is 11-5 in its last 16 games overall.

The Braves are 1-7 in their last eight Friday games. Atlanta is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings.

San Diego has shown a lot of fight lately and McCarthy is hittable. So is Richard, but his groundball tendencies can often keep him out of big innings for the opposition. I'm going to take a shot at the Padres continuing their strong play of late and getting the win here as an underdog.
