Marlins’ Urena allows three runs over six in loss to Padres
Jose Urena allowed three runs over six innings while taking a loss against the Padres on Sunday. Urena allowed a two-run homer to Eric Hosmer, but outside of that mistake, he was solid with no walks and five strikeouts. While the right-hander has been disappointing, he’s pitched better than his 1-8 record and 4.59 ERA might indicate. There’s still long-term value, even if this is a bit of a lost season. He’ll look to change minds when he’s on the mound against the Orioles on Friday.
Orioles’ Gausman allows three runs in last start vs. Blue Jays
Kevin Gausman surrendered three runs in 6 2/3 innings and did not factor into the decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday. He struck out six batters without issuing a walk and allowed nine base hits, including a solo home run by Randal Grichuk. Gausman has good strikeout and walk rates but has been burned by the longball this year. His record holds at 3-5 with a 4.58 ERA after 13 starts. He has amassed 74 strikeouts, 17 walks and 14 home runs allowed in 76 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 1-5 in Urena’s last six road starts and are 0-6 in his last six outings when he’s coming off four days of rest.
Baltimore
The Orioles have dropped 10 of their last 11 home games, are 0-7 in their last seven interleague home games and have dropped 12 of their last 14 interleague games overall.
Prediction:
This should be a great spot for ‘over’ bettors to take advantage of the matchup. The over has cashed in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams and is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall. The over is also 5-2 in the Marlins’ last seven road games, is 3-1-1 in Urena’s last five interleague starts and is 7-3 in Gausman’s last 10 home outings when pitching against a team with a losing record.
