Tigers win back-to-back
The Tigers have won their last two games coming into this weekend, defeating the Twins to move closer to the .500 mark. Detroit is now 33-37 on the season and 10-20 on the road. Detroit is averaging 4.16 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.56 per contest.
Mike Fiers is getting the start for the Tigers this evening. He has a 5-3 record through 12 starts with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. Fiers has pitched a total of 67.1 innings this season and has 50 strikeouts with 14 walks.
White Sox leveling out
The White Sox have been playing better by their standards lately, winning six of their last 10 games. Chicago is 24-43 overall and 12-21 at home. The White Sox are putting up 3.82 runs per game this season while allowing 5.01 per contest.
Reynaldo Lopez is getting the start for the White Sox this evening. He has started in 13 games this season and has a 3.26 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. His record is just 2-4 despite those good numbers. Lopez has pitched a total of 77.1 innings this season and has 54 strikeouts with 34 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 3-9 in their last 12 Friday games, but they have won Fiers’ last four starts. However, they are just 16-39 in their last 55 road games.
Chicago
The White Sox are 4-9 in their last 13 Friday games and 5-12 in their last 17 division games. Chicago is just 2-5 in Lopez’ last seven starts.
Prediction:
Both teams are playing somewhat well right now, but I am going to go with Chicago at home. Lopez has been a strength on the mound, one of the few for the Sox. I think he can get through this short-handed Detroit lineup that will be without Miguel Cabrera the rest of the season. Fiers has been respectable on the mound, but I am not sure he can match what I expect from Lopez.
The Pick: Chicago White Sox -130
