Rangers struggle on the road
Texas has dropped its last two on the road to Boston and the Rangers have struggled a great deal away from home throughout the season. The Rangers are 36-32 on the season, 12-20 on the road and 34-33 with the over. Texas has Jesse Chavez taking the mound tonight. He is 2-2 on the season with a 3.62 ERA.
The Rangers are second in the league in scoring, averaging 5.68 runs per game while hitting .256 as a team. They are also second in stolen bases with 55. On the mound, Texas has a 4.88 team ERA with a 1.47 team WHIP. Joey Gallo has been leading the team with 17 home runs and 41 RBI, but he is dealing with an oblique injury that has him out for a few more weeks. Asdrubal Cabrera has 10 doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBI while Hunter Pence has 14 doubles, 14 home runs and 46 RBI.
Reds seek a win streak
Cincinnati is coming off a 7-2 win in Cleveland on Wednesday, but they are seeking their first two-game win streak in weeks. The Reds are 30-36 on the season, 15-15 at home and 41-23 with the under. Cincy has Tyler Mahle taking the mound today. He is 2-6 on the season with a 4.21 ERA.
The Reds have one of the strong pitching staffs in the league, as they have a 3.58 team ERA with a 1.23 team WHIP. At the plate, Cincy is averaging 4.26 runs per game while hitting .233 as a squad. Eugenio Suarez is leading the team with 13 doubles, 15 home runs and 42 RBI while Yasiel Puig has 11 home runs and 33 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 5-1 in their last six games following a loss, but just 18-38 in their last 56 road games.
Cincinnati
The Reds are just 5-17 in their last 22 games following a win and 1-6 in their last seven against AL West opponents.
Prediction:
Chavez is mostly a reliever that has pretty good numbers, but he won’t be on the mound for long and turn the ball over to a questionable bullpen. Mahle has some shaky starts, but he consistently keeps the Reds in ball games. I think due to Cincy’s strong pitching and Texas’ struggles on the road all year, I will go with the Reds to grab the victory.
MLB Prediction: Cincinnati Reds -160
