Indians upset again
The Indians dropped a second straight game to Chicago on Wednesday in a 1-0 loss. Cleveland is now 35-31 on the season and 15-20 on the road. Cleveland is averaging 4.88 runs per game at the plate this season while allowing 4.38 per contest.
Mike Clevinger gets the start for the Indians this afternoon. He has a 4-2 record through 13 starts with a 3.31 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 84.1 innings this year and has 69 strikeouts with 29 walks.
White Sox find a win streak
The White Sox had been flip flopping between wins and losses for a week, but have now won back-to-back games over Cleveland. The White Sox are 24-42 overall and 12-20 at home this season. Chicago is putting up 3.86 runs per game this season while allowing 5.06 per contest.
Carlos Rodon is getting the start for the White Sox this afternoon. It will be just his second start this season. In his first start on June 9, he allowed two earned runs over five innings. Rodon gave up six hits and two walks while striking out seven.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won nine of Clevinger’s last 11 starts in the division and 10 of his last 14 starts against a losing team.
Chicago
The White Sox have won four of Rodon’s last five home starts and seven of his last 10 home starts against a winning team.
Prediction:
Chicago has been surprising the last two days, but I have to stick with Cleveland. The Indians are the better team overall and I don’t see Rodon being able to go deep into this game in just his second start in his return from an injury. Clevinger has been more reliable and he’s got a better bullpen behind him.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -150
