St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul DeJong went 1-for-4 with a double during Wednesday’s loss to the Marlins. His double was one of just three Cardinals hits in the ballgame and the only one that went for extra bases. The Cards were shut out by rookie Jordan Yamamoto (who was making his major league debut) and two Marlins relievers. DeJong owns a .269 batting average with 10 homers, 29 RBI, 44 runs scored and four steals in 65 games played.
New York Mets Fantasy Spin
Mets manager Mickey Callaway said Jed Lowrie (knee, hamstring) is “not close” to seeing game action. Lowrie was nearing a return from a knee sprain last month but strained his hamstring during a rehab stint with Triple-A Syracuse. He’s been getting work in at the team’s spring training facility down in Florida, but apparently he isn’t close to returning. Signed for $20 million this offseason, the veteran infielder may have to wait until the second half to make his Mets debut.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals have won four of their last five games after allowing five runs or more in their previous contest.
New York
The Mets are 8-18 in deGrom’s last 27 home starts.
Prediction:
The Cardinals are just 1-4 in their last five trips to Citi Field and are 1-4 in deGrom’s last five starts versus them as well. They’ve also dropped eight of Flaherty’s last 10 road starts and are 5-14 in their last 19 road games overall. Finally, the Mets have won 13 of their last 16 games at home and are 11-1 in their last 12 home games versus a right-handed starter.
The Pick: New York Mets -149
