Astros’ McCullers allows three runs over six vs. Mariners
Lance McCullers allowed four runs over six-plus innings in a loss against the Mariners on Wednesday. McCullers was given a 3-1 lead, but he gave up an RBI single to Nelson Cruz and a homer to Denard Span to tie the game at 3-3, and he was charged with the go-ahead run when Jean Segura knocked in Guillermo Heredia after he left in the seventh. His ERA on the year now sits at 3.94, and his WHIP raises to 1.19 on the campaign. McCullers will be back on the mound on Tuesday when the Astros face the A’s in Oakland.
A’s Mengden crushed by Rangers in Texas
Daniel Mengden allowed six earned runs, five hits and three walks with three strikeouts over four innings in a loss in Texas on Wednesday. Mengden threw just 48 of his 80 pitches for strikes, and when he did throw it over the plate the Rangers were smacking the ball far. He served up four homers, including two in the first inning which set the tone for his evening. The loss snapped a four-start win streak for Mengden, and he allowed as many homers in this outing as he did in his previous eight start. He’ll look to bounce back against the Astros.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 4-1 in McCullers Jr.’s last five starts versus the A’s, are 13-4 in their last 17 games in Oakland and are 24-8 in their last 32 games versus Oakland overall.
Oakland

Prediction:
The Astros own one of the most dangerous offenses in baseball but they get a negative ballpark draw tonight playing in Oakland and this is one of the more underrated pitching matchups on Tuesday night’s slate. The under is 3-1-1 in McCullers Jr.’s last five road starts and is 18-7 in his last 25 outings when he faces the rest of the American League West. On the other side, the under is 12-2 in the A’s last 14 home starts versus a right-handed starter and is 17-5 in their last 22 home games.
The Pick: Astros/A’s under 8
