Pirates lose fourth straight
The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost four straight games following a 13-7 loss to the Braves on Monday night. The Pirates are 30-35 on the season, 17-17 on the road and 38-26 with the over. Pittsburgh has Chris Archer on the mound tonight. He is 3-5 on the season with a 5.20 ERA.
The Pirates put up seven runs on 10 hits Monday night, but their pitching wasn’t capable of succeeding. Alex McRae took his second loss of the season, allowing six earned runs over 4.1 innings. The next two out of the pen gave up five runs over three innings. Startling Marte had three hits and four RBI to lead the Pirates while Josh Bell drove in his 58th run of the season.
Braves win fourth straight
The Atlanta Braves have won four straight games following Monday’s lopsided victory over the Pirates. Atlanta is 37-29 overall, 17-15 at home and 35-28 with the over. The Braves send Mike Foltynewicz on the mound today. He is 1-5 on the season with a 5.89 ERA.
The Braves had five home runs on Monday night to lead them to the win. Freddie Freeman had his 18th of the season while Ozzie Albies had two solo shots. Nick Markakis added four hits and four RBI in the victory. Sean Newcomb got the win on the mound in relief. He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed just one hit with six strikeouts. Jacob Webb got the save by recording the final four outs.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates have lost four straight road games and five of their last six following a loss.
Atlanta
The Braves have won five of their last six after a win and 11 of their last 14 games against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
Prediction:
Archer hasn’t been able to get himself on track, allowing at least four runs in five of his last six starts. Walks have been an issue for him as well. Foltynewicz has struggled as well, but I think he will have the better run support today. Just like Monday, I think this is going to be a high-scoring game and I am behind the Braves to continue to roll while the Pirates take another loss.
MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -140
