Tigers seeking momentum
The Detroit Tigers have lost four of their last five, all at home, coming into the beginning of this road series. Detroit is 24-38 on the season, 13-17 on the road and 32-26 with the under. Spencer Turnbull is getting the start for the Tigers, as he is 3-5 on the season with a 3.01 ERA.
Detroit is one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to hitting. The Tigers average just 3.57 runs per game while hitting .233 as a squad. On the mound, Detroit has a 4.85 team ERA with a 1.39 team WHIP. Nicholas Castellanos has been leading the team this season with 20 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 23 RBI. Miguel Cabrera has added 10 doubles, three home runs and 27 RBI.
Royals can’t get on track
The Royals have lost eight of their last nine coming into today’s game, including series losses to the Ranger, Red Sox and White Sox. KC is 20-45 on the season, 12-22 at home and 32-29 with the over. Kansas City has Jakob Junis getting the start. He is 4-6 on the season with a 5.63 ERA.
Like the Tigers, Kansas City doesn’t have a lot of positive things going for them. The Royals have a 5.22 ERA and a 1.47 team WHIP, both of which are near the bottom of the league. On offense, KC is averaging 4.18 runs per game while hitting .244. They do lead the league in stolen bases with 60. Jorge Soler is leading the team with 15 doubles, 17 home runs and 44 RBI while Adalberto Mondesi has 15 doubles, eight triples, 44 RBI and 24 stolen bases.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers have won four of Turnbull’s last five starts, but they are just 4-13 in their last 17 games following a loss.
Kansas City
The Royals are just 1-5 in their last six home games and 1-6 in their last seven AL Central games.
Prediction:
The Tigers haven’t done much well this season, but they are 5-1 against the Royals in 2019. Turnbull has been the Tigers top pitcher. He doesn’t take a massive amount of damage, but doesn’t get deep into games either. Still, he has pitched 13 innings against the Royals and allowed just three earned runs with 17 strikeouts. Junis has been pretty consistent at not being great this year. He has given up at least three runs in five of his last six starts. He gave up three runs in six innings to the Tigers this year already as well. I think the recipe is just there for the Tigers to get a road win tonight.
MLB Prediction: Detroit Tigers +105
